Optimal regimes for magnetogasdynamic channel flows with Hall effect

Abstract
The problem of seeking those geometric. gas-dynamic and electromagnetic parameters of the channel flow of a conducting gas for which maximum power can be rapped from the channel electrodes is investigated in the one-dimensional approximation. The problem is simplified by imposing certain natural restrictions and easily visualized qualitative results are obtained. The cases of continuous and sectional electrodes are analyzed in detail and compared for different methods of connecting the sections and the load. In addition, the limits of applicability of the one-dimensional approximation are clarified. Figs 5, Refs 4.
