Experimental study of the magnetic fields in induction pumps

S. V. Vasil'ev - N. M. Okhremenko - L. G. Smirnova

Abstract
The authors discuss the results of experiments to determine the spatial distribution of the three components of the magnetic induction in the gap between the inductors of a flat linear induction pump under various load conditions, using metal plates mounted between the inductors. Data are also presented on the integral distribution characteristic of the working component of the induction - the demagnetization coefficient and parameters characterizing secondary leakage. The results of the experiments are compared with theory. Rough limits are established for the applicability of the simplified theory of electromagnetic phenomena in flat linear induction pumps based on the assumption that the magnetic field is plane-parallel.
