Traveling-field induction pumps

N. M. Okhremenko

Abstract
The present state of the art with respect to linear induction pumps together with a number of problems of theoretical and experimental interest is reviewed. Besides material that has already been published, the present review also includes some new results. The trend in the development of linear induction pumps is discussed, and the status of theoretical studies of such fundamental questions as electromagnetic field distribution, magnetohydrodynamic effects, secondary-current reaction, and the reactance of the inductor winding and the secondary system is appraised. Experimental studies of the electromagnetic processes are also surveyed. Figs 6, Refs 67.
