On determining the magnetic Reynolds number

E. I. Yantovskii

Abstract
The fundamental criterion of magnetohydrodynamics. the magnetic Reynolds number Rm (the product of the electrical conductivity, the magnetic permeability, a characteristic velocity, and a characteristic linear dimension), can give an order of magnitude estimate of the ratio of the induced magnetic field to the applied field nor for any characteristic values of velocity and dimension, but only for values chosen according to a fixed rule.
