Damping of oscillations of moving liquid-metal drops by a transverse magnetic field

E. I. Dobychin - V. I. Popov

Abstract
The effect of a magnetic field on the oscillations of liquid-metal drops moving in a non-conducting liquid under the action of surface tension forces is considered. The effect of a steady magnetic field on the period, the damping time, and the mean velocity of drops with different masses is estimated by using the experimental results obtained in a falling-type zero gravity device.
