Efficiency of induction pumps and bearings

Abstract
A local relationship between components of the Poynting vector and the Maxwell stress tensor, whose existence is a sufficient condition that the efficiency of electromechanical transducers be determined by the phase velocity of the field, is derived. It is shown that an unlimited improvement in the efficiency of pumps can be achieved. The efficiency of induction bearings for floating discs is investigated.
