The magnetohydrodynamic spherical bearing

The theory of lubrication of a spherical bearing with a small gap by a conducting fluid in a uniform magnetic field is considered. The ordinary and magnetic Reynolds numbers are assumed to be small. The basic equation is obtained and its solution is investigated for small Hartmann numbers. It is shown that for a particular orientation of the magnetic field it is possible to find the direction of the lift force with respect to the axis of rotation of the spherical bearing.
