Computation of crystallization of overheated melt in an electromagnetic field

V. A. Berzin' - N. S. Bugrov - Ya. Ya. Klyavin' - A. V. Markov

Abstract
The one-dimensional non stationary problem of gradual crystallization of an overheated melt in an electromagnetic field is investigated. The results of experimental investigations are taken into consideration in developing a mathematical model of the process. The model can be used for computing hardening of plane ingots and for making correct choices of the regime of electromagnetic action and cooling, and also for extending the range of information obtained experimentally. For this purpose we consider the inverse problem, which permits us to compute the temperature field of the hardened crust for a given law of growth of its thickness. The computed curves of the temperature distribution in experimental ingots are given.
