Disintegration of a free liquid-metal stream due to an axial current

Abstract
Theoretical and experimental results are presented for a study of the disintegration of a liquid-metal stream due to the action of an electric current along it. The criteria which characterize the breakup of the stream with current are determined and an estimate of the size of the resulting drops is given. The experimental data obtained agree satisfactorily with the theory.
