Dynamics of particles in a conducting emulsion in a cylindrical magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) separator

Yu. A. Krasnitskii - V. I. Popov

Abstract
An approximate solution is found for the problem of motion of a particle in a conducting emulsion moving in a MHD separator with Reynolds numbers Re >> 1 and Stuart numbers St ≥ 1. It is shown that in certain conditions the radial velocity of the separating particles is a maximum with a correspondent radial coordinate which depends on the magnitude of the resistive forces acting on the particle moving in the channel of the MHD separator.
