Abstract
Known methods for calculating electromaglletic forces, arising under the effect of pulsed magnetic fields in finite cylindrical "inductor-metaln systems, lead to complex integral expressions. Numerical methods for solving them, even using electronic computers, are extremely labor-consuming. The present article discusses a method which makes it possible to obtain an analytical solution to the problem in terms of known functions and to use it in engineering calculations. The essence of the method comes down to the fact that with real values of the parameters of the system under consideration it becomes possible to use asymptotic series and to approximate the damping factor of the expression under the integral sign in terms of the sum of two exponents. The electromagnetic forces and the impedance of the system are calculated. The results of the calculations are tabulated for the characteristic working conditions of an electromagnetic crystallizer and are presented in the form of curves. The results obtained are in good agreement with experimental data. Magnitnaya Gidrodinamika 10, No. 4, 87-94, 1974 [PDF] (in Russian)
