Abstract
Experimental data are presented on the p(Q) characteristics of a conduction pump with axial supply of current, under both pumping and stagnation conditions. It is shown that the dissipative losses occurring during motion of the metal in the flow circuit of this type of device diminish the pressure due to the losses and substantially increase the efficiency of operation in the stagnation conditions. It is shown to be desirable to use pumps of this type as MHD throttling devices.
