Investigation of the characteristics of a linear induction machine with compensation of longitudinal edge effect by three-phase compensation windings

Abstract
A theoretical and computational investigation of the compensation of the)ongitudinal edge effect by the installation of a threephase compensation winding before the entrance in an operating machine is carried out on the basis of the one-dimensional theory. Formulas for the impedances of the equivalent circuit are derived taking into consideration the longitudinal edge effect and the compensation winding. The problem of the optimum relation of the pole divisions of the compensation and operating windings is investigated. The efficiency of the investigated method of compensation is estimated.
