Evaluation of the velocity field in the channel of an MHD machine from the inductance of the secondary field

Abstract
An investigation was made of the possibility of evaluating the velocity profile in the channel of an MHD machine from the known distribution of the secondary field outside this channel. It is shown that asymmetry of the velocity profile over the width of the channel breaks down the symmetry of the distribution of the normal component of the inductance, and that the deviation of the distribution of the tangential component of the inductance from symmetrical is connected with the asymmetry of the velocity profile over the height of the channel.
