Abstract
Heat transfer is investigated in a plane channel with a magnetic fluid layer on the bottom wall when the heat flux on that wall is constant. It is shown that using such layer it is possible to enhance the heat transfer by a factor of 2,5. The role of the backward flow in the layer is studied and the heat transfer by this flow to the channel inlet is found to lead to a worsening of the wall cooling in the channel inlet portion. A method of heat transfer enhancement by placing a fin in the layer near the channel entry is proposed. Figs 8, Refs 7.
