Abstract
It was shown by experimental and computational methods that the process of metal melting essentially depends on the intensity and hydrodynamic structure of electrovortex flows (EVF) developing in a smelting furnace. It was found that by controlling the EVF applying an external longitudinal magnetic field one can reduce the melting time. Tables 1, Figs 4, Refs 13.
