Abstract
The paper compares results of experimental and numerical investigations of the ``bottom induction stirrer with a rotating electromagnetic field -- conducting melt'' system in two variants: the air gap is equal to 10 mm, and the air gap is compensated by soft magnetic composite inserts. The following values were chosen as investigated parameters: the magnetic induction normal component, the integral velocity of melt rotation, the temperature at several points along the central axis of the crucible filled with with molten metal. The comparison has shown a good agreement of the numerical and experimental data. Tables 1, Figs 10, Refs 10.
